Its been a year since Thajul Ulema left us. Sayed, scholar, sufi, teacher, orator, leader...he was many for all of us. It was his charismatic leadership and dedicated scholarship in him helped the Muslim community in South India to over come the troublesome days. He was the second Sayed to become Samastha's president after Varakkal Mullakkoya Thangal, the founder president of Samastha, the apex body of Malayali Muslim community. Samastha under his leadership not only entered into second phase of its activities, but he also helped the scholar community in the region to sustain their widespread respect, pride and influence as the guardians of Islamic tradition. Valou vahdee, even if I am alone, he used to say in his public speeches. By that he meant he would have done what he did even if he was alone. Such was his courage and commitment.

Oh, Allah, grant him a higher place in the paradise,
Oh Allah, in the life hereafter, bring all of us together in the paradise.

Oh, Allah, grant him a higher place in the paradise,Oh Allah, in the life hereafter, bring all of us together in the paradise.
